It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Maria Luisa Shaw at the age of 91. Originally from Cuba, resided in Antigua, West Indies, and lastly a resident of Calgary, Canada for the past eighteen years, Maria leaves to mourn her children, Samuel Shaw (Arelis), Mrs. Eunice Rayne (Terry), Raul Shaw; grandchildren, Tekisha, Elena, and Damian Rayne in Calgary; as well as Mrs. Yulaidis Shaw Hurtado (Rolando) in the U.S.A.; the great-grandmother of Samuel Rodolfo Louit; her surviving siblings, Ruben and Esteban Walwyn in Cuba; numerous nieces and nephews including Lynette Lake and family of Calgary; and great-niece Charlene Zaniecki (Wes). She also leaves to mourn a host of relatives and friends too numerous to mention. Maria loved everyone and was loved by many, and positively impacted countless lives. She had a passion for God and served the Seventh-day Adventist Church as deaconess and Choir member among other things. The service of thanksgiving for the life of Maria Luisa Shaw will take place at the Central Church of Seventh-day Adventists (1920 - 13 Avenue N.W.) on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at LEYDEN'S Chapel of Remembrance (corner of 17 Avenue and 2 Street S.W.) on Thursday, November 15, 2012 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded to the family by visiting www.leydens.com.
