SINGH, Martha Ruth (nee Ghormley)
It is with profound gratitude for her precious and radiant life that the family of Martha Ruth Singh announces her serene and peaceful passing on Friday, January 25, 2013 in Calgary, AB at the Foothills Hospital. Born on December 17, 1939 to Leo and Annie Ghormley in Partridge, Kansas and raised on the family farm, Martha went on to study Psychology and Social Work at Kansas University in Lawrence where she met her beloved husband of nearly 50 years, Mansa Chopra Singh. Married in 1963, they lived in India and the United States before making Calgary their home in 1968 when they became affiliated with the University of Calgary. She is survived by her husband; daughters Sheila, Kiren (Scott), Meera (Robert) and Indra; grandchildren Benjamin and Maxwell; twin sister Margaret Lee; sister Barbara; brother David and brother-in-law Sulakahan (Kuldip); as well as other sisters and brothers-in-law and many nieces and nephews in Canada, India and the U.S. Martha was predeceased by her parents and her brother Harold. A Memorial Service will be held at Parkdale United Church, 2919 - 8 Avenue N.W., Calgary, AB on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family via the website www.fostersgardenchapel.ca.
