May 13, 1936 - January 2, 2013
Elizabeth Munnoch passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on January 2, 2013, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease, which was fought with dignity, humour and courage. A loving and devoted wife for fifty-two years to her husband Keith, Elizabeth is also survived by her four daughters; Louise (Marc), Eleanor (Dan), Carolyn and Sandra (Sean), her six grandchildren; Gavin, Charlotte, Henry, Alexandra, Jack and Maggie, all of whom will miss her unstinting love and support every day. Elizabeth was born in Balmoral, North Ireland on May 13, 1936, and shortly thereafter moved with her parents to Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, England. She was evacuated back to Northern Ireland just after the outbreak of World War II and she remained there until rejoining her parents in Welwyn Garden City after the hostilities ended. After finishing high school, Elizabeth attended secretarial college and then worked for the National Provincial Bank before joining Devices, a small technology-oriented company. In 1958, Elizabeth became a flight attendant with Airwork, a charter airline flying to destinations in Europe and Africa. She met her future husband in Nairobi, Kenya, the following year. They married in 1960 and she devoted herself to her family with great success for the remainder of her life. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church (703 Heritage Drive S.W.) today, January 9, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Parkinson's Society of Southern Alberta, No. 102, 5636 Burbank Crescent S.E., Calgary, AB T2H 1Z6 (Phone 403-243-9901, www.parkinsonsalberta.ca). In living memory of Elizabeth Munnoch, a tree will be planted at Big Hill Springs Park Cochrane.
