GIBSON, Melvin (Mel) Samuel
October 3, 1926 - February 16, 2013
Mel Gibson of Calgary will be sadly missed
by Elsie, his loving wife of 62 years. He passed away on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at the age of 86 years. Mel is survived by his children, Grant (Jill), Melanie (Kim) Wagstaff and Kerri; grandchildren, Travis and Taylor Gibson; Nick, Josh and Lisanne Wagstaff; and great-grandson, Damion. Mel was predeceased by his mother, Annie. Mel served in the Royal Canadian Navy. He worked for many years in the oilfields, ending his career as a pipe inspector. Mel enjoyed over thirty-five years golfing at the Elks Golf Club. If desired, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of Canada, 3100, 246 Stewart Green S.W., Calgary AB T3H 3C8 (1-888) 884-2232 or a charity of your choice. A Memorial Service will be held at Bow Valley Christian Church (5300 – 53 Avenue N.W.) on Thursday, February 21, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through In living memory of Mel Gibson, a tree will be planted at Big Hill Springs Park Cochrane.
