1927 - 2012
Sadly, with many loving memories, we announce the sudden passing of our dad and grandfather, H. Owen Wilson, at the age of 84 years. Born in Calgary, AB in 1927 to parents Donald and Florence Wilson, Owen moved to Victoria early in life and lived there until the late 1940's when he returned to Calgary with his soon-to-be wife, Audrey who predeceased him in 1995 after 45 years of marriage. Owen started a career with Alberta Government Telephones in 1948 and remained a loyal employee with AGT until his retirement in 1991 with over forty-two years of service. Owen met the challenges of life handed to him with courage and determination and he journeyed on despite the onset of kidney disease late in his life. A special thanks goes out to all the staff at the Sheldon M. Chumir Chronic Kidney Disease Clinic. Owen was greatly loved and will be forever remembered by his son Dale (Karen); daughter Dalyce (Gord); and his grandchildren, Ryan, Tyler, Chad and Breeann; as well as his extended family and friends. A celebration of Owen's life will be held at LEYDEN'S Chapel of Remembrance (corner of 17 Avenue and 2 Street S.W.) on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Owen's memory to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, Southern Alberta Branch ( www.kidney.ca ). Condolences may be forwarded to the family by visiting www.leydens.com . Arrangements entrusted to LEYDEN'S FUNERAL HOME and CREMATORIUM (304 - 18 Avenue S.W., Calgary, AB). Telephone: 403-228-4422.
