ALLEN, Paul James
March 12, 1950 - Olds, AB
April 13, 2018 - Calgary, AB
It is with immense sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our wonderful father, Paul James Allen, on Friday, April 13, 2018. Born on March 12, 1950 in Olds, Alberta, he spent much of his childhood living overseas in Longuyon, France, where he excelled as a star athlete in both hockey and baseball. At the age of 14, his family settled in Trenton, Ontario, where he completed high school before moving to London to attend the University of Western Ontario. Through a diligent work ethic and the importance of education instilled by his parents, he obtained degrees in Economics and Psychology, followed by successful careers as the Director of Admissions at UWO and a Pit Manager at Caesars Windsor. Paul will be lovingly remembered always by his children, Matthew (Caroline) Allen and Tracy (Jon) Holden; sisters, Pamela (Wayne) Wasko and Heather (Alex) Munroe; as well as his loving nieces, nephews, and his "little buddies" Marley and Ruby. He was predeceased by his parents, Irene Evelyn Jean (Hedge) and Lloyd William Allen, whom he held close to his heart. A Celebration of Paul's Life will be held for family at Foster's Garden Chapel, 3220 – 4th Street NW, Calgary, on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made directly to The Military Museums Foundation, www.themilitarymuseums.ca. "Death ends a life, not a relationship. All the love you created is still there. All the memories are still there. You live on, in the hearts of everyone you have touched and nurtured while you were here." - Morrie Schwartz, Tuesdays With Morrie. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family via the website www.fostersgardenchapel.ca.
