September 23, 1947 - November 24, 2012
After a courageous fight, Ron passed away peacefully at the age of 65 years. Ron was born in High River, Alberta on September 23, 1947. He attended high school in Calgary and college in Santa Barbara, California. He had many adventures travelling the world, promoting rock concerts and living in new places. In the mid 1970's he settled back in Calgary where he met his wife and love of his life, Susan. He spent many years working at Greyhound Lines of Canada and then purchased Danatec Educational Services Ltd in 1991. Danatec ended up becoming an integral part of the Martin family; he loved his staff and the safety business. He was a well-respected honest businessman and was a man of his word. The past five years of his life he was fortunate enough to retire in Mexico and found his home there with Sue. He leaves behind a legacy that cannot be replicated. He will be deeply missed by many. He was the true example of a gentleman and an inspiration to us all. He will always and forever be in our thoughts. Ron is survived by his loving wife Susan; children Alina and Elliott; grandchildren Mia and Evan as well as many extended relatives and friends. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Foothills Country Hospice Society, P.O. Box 274, Okotoks, AB (Telephone 403-995-4673, www.countryhospice.org). A celebration of Ron's life will be held at the Heritage Pointe Golf Course & Club House (No. 1 Heritage Pointe Drive, RR1, DeWinton, AB, T0L 0X0) on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In living memory of Ronald Martin, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.
