Ruby Fawcett

FAWCETT, Ruby Vivian Snowden
October 17, 1915 - July 11, 2011

We are sad to announce the passing of Ruby
Fawcett on July 11, 2011 at the age of 95 years.
Born in Burin, Newfoundland Ruby, her
parents and five brothers and sisters moved
to Edmonton. Ruby spent her younger years
in Edmonton before moving to Calgary. She
married Cecil Fawcett, the owner of Fawcett
Plumbing. Ruby lived in her Veteran's Land
Act Grant House for sixty-five years. She is
believed to be the last of the original owners in
the Winston Heights Community. She was so
proud of her lifetime membership award, she
was also proud to be an original member and
strong supporter of North Minister United
Church and The North Star Chapter Thirty-
Four of the Eastern Star. Ruby exercised her
great sense of humour with the Peter
Lougheed Hospice staff and visitors right up
to her passing. On her last day the Peter
Lougheed staff wrote Ruby a thank you card
for her inspiration. Ruby leaves behind her
dear children Leonard Cecil Fawcett of
Calgary and Donald Bond (Christine) Fawcett
of Duncan, BC. Also to mourn her passing and
celebration of her happy life are her
grandchildren Richard (Heather) Fawcett,
Tanis (Ryan) Fenton and Jami Fawcett all of
Calgary; great-grandchildren Easton and
Addison Fenton and newly arrived Samuel
Fawcett; special nieces Sandra Cameron and
Phyliss Comrie; daughters of Gwen Comrie
her most beloved sister of Victoria, BC. In
addition niece Patricia Allen of Calgary. She
was predeceased by her husband Cecil
Fawcett who passed away in 1986.

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS &
HOLLOWAY'S Chapel of the Bells (2720
Centre Street North) on Friday, July 15, 2011
at 10:30 a.m. Forward condolences through
www.mcinnisandholloway.com . If friends so
desire, memorial tributes may be made to
charity of choice. In living memory of Ruby
Fawcett, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek
Provincial Park.
