JONSSON, Sharon Rose (nee Johnson)
July 20, 1934 - September 30, 2017
Sharon Rose Jonsson passed away on Saturday, September 30, 2017, at the age of 83 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Anita; grandchildren Andria, Juan, Joshua, and Kelsey; great- grandchildren Annika, Chloé, Helaman, Kimberly, and Kevin. Her siblings are Grant and Elmoyne Johnson, Keith and Molly McBride, Kelvin and Arta Johnson, Beverly and Virginia Johnson, Preston and Maurine Johnson and Betty and Ralph Sabey. Sharon's parents are Miles "Jack" and Bessie (nee Thomas) Johnson. They raised their eight children in the town of Barnwell, Alberta. These were happy, gospel centered, family times where education and learning were much valued. Sharon, like her mother before her, decided to become a teacher. In the first year of her teaching career, Sharon met a young man named Osten Jonsson, a recent Swedish immigrant, who invited her to the town's upcoming dance. Out of this first date, a lifetime friendship grew; blessing them in marriage and in parenthood. Later they moved to Calgary, where Sharon would teach elementary school for the next 31 years. She found great joy in helping her students learn and the time spent working with other teachers. The beautiful friendships and cherished memories made while teaching, kept her seeking opportunities to learn and to serve; often being centered in the joy of family history work. Sharon treasures her nieces and nephews, and great nieces and great nephews, as her dear children and friends, finding such happiness in hearing about their lives, sharing time together, and comfort in their many acts of kind service. She also enjoyed ballroom and square dancing. Sharon's family would like to extend a personal invitation to all who knew her to come and celebrate her life at a Funeral Service and luncheon that will be held for Sharon at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - North Stake Center (5927 Tipton Road NW, Calgary) on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 11:00 am.
