ROGERSON, Susan (Sue) Leah
(nee Headland)
April 11, 1950 - June 26, 2012
Susan (Sue) Leah Rogerson, beloved wife of Gary of Calgary, passed away on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at the age of 62 years. Sue was born in Verdun, Quebec where she lived with her family until the 1960's when she moved to Alberta with her mother and brothers. After graduating from James Fowler High School, Sue completed a Bachelor of Education at U of C in 1971. In 1973, she married Gary whom she had met through mutual friends. Gary's work took them to Scotland for two and a half years after which they returned to Calgary where Sue worked for the Calgary Board of Education as a French teacher and an adult education teacher for the rest of the 1970's and 1980's. She also completed a second degree in linguistics during this time. Her son Matthew was born in 1980, whom she raised with great joy and happiness. In 1988, she was diagnosed with MS, which she fought with determination and courage for the rest of her life. At the end, she was afflicted with ovarian cancer that she did not have the strength to overcome. Besides her loving husband Gary, Susan is survived by her son Matthew (Rebecca), and her brothers Neil and Carl (Faye). She was predeceased by her mother Freda, her father Lloyd, and her stepfather, Clint Biccum. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. Forward condolences through In living memory of Susan Rogerson, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.
