FAORO, Vittorina (nee Bellegante)
May 11, 1929 - February 23, 2013
It is with great sadness that the family of Vittorina Faoro announces her passing on Saturday, February 23, 2013. She was surrounded by her family and close friends at the time of her peaceful passing. Rina was born in the hamlet of Giaroni, Fonzaso, Italy. She immigrated to Canada in 1960 to marry Vittore in Calgary. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, exceptional and proud nonna. She loved spending time in her garden, visiting with her many friends, playing cards and feeding people. Rina was an incredible cook and was happiest seeing friends and family sitting at her table. Mom was a true and loyal friend who will be missed by many. She was best known as Zia Rina - she always said she was the luckiest woman with so many "nieces and nephews". She was proud of her Italian heritage while at the same time she embraced the Canadian way and was proud to be Canadian. Rina is survived by her son Giuseppe (Joe) Faoro; her daughter and son-in-law, Angelina and Doug Oicle; her grandchildren Deneuve Faoro, Emilie, Alexander and Jillian Oicle all of Calgary and numerous nieces and nephews in Calgary and Italy. She was predeceased by her husband Vittore in 1977; her parents Guglielmo and Adele Bellegante; two sisters Maria and Antonietta and her brother Bortolo. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) this evening, February 28, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Grace Italian and English Catholic Church (1714 - 14 Avenue N.E.) on Friday, March 1, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. Condolences may be forwarded through The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Dr. Gaudet, Dr. Kachra, Dr. Sharma and the nurses at the Peter Lougheed Centre for their exceptional care and treatment of our mom. In living memory of Vittorina Faoro, a tree will be planted at Big Hill Springs Park, Cochrane.
