Vivienne Margaret Douglas (nee Potts) passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 27, 2012. Vivienne was born in Calgary, the youngest of five children of William and Margaret Potts, who founded the Calgary Montessori School, the longest operating Montessori School in North America. Upon her parents' passing Vivienne took over the school. Viv married Eddie Douglas in 1957 but, sadly lost him to heart disease in 1972. A remarkable and resilient woman, she raised her children on her own while continuing to educate Calgary's children until her retirement in 1994, when she passed her legacy on to her daughter. Vivienne will be truly missed by her family and many friends for her kindness, compassion and wonderful sense of humour. Vivienne will be lovingly remembered by her children Alex (Mary) Douglas and Alison (Art O'Dwyer); grandchildren Megan, Erin and Natalie Douglas and Edward, Beth and Carolyn O'Dwyer; numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Edward in 1972 and their infant daughter Jocelyn Margaret Douglas in 1963. A Memorial Service will be held at Christ Church (3602 - 8 Street S.W.) on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
