AKIN, Reverend Wayne Linden
October 11, 1930 - May 7, 2012
Wayne, 81, peacefully went to the arms of Jesus on Monday, May 7, 2012, after a long illness at Rockyview Hospital. He will be greatly missed by his beloved wife, Esther; his children Lynda Bauer, Joel, and Steve (Shirley); his grandchildren Matthew, Christina, and Joshua; his sister Wilma as well as many nieces and nephews. Wayne was born in Gratoit County, Michigan, served in the US Army in Japan and went on to become a Pastor in 1955. His passions were church planting, his family and going for coffee with friends. He will be remembered for his gentle spirit and his great love for God and others. He never met a stranger and encouraged countless people throughout his life. Family and Friends are invited to attend a Visitation at PIERSON'S Forest Lawn Chapel (4121 - 17 Avenue S.E.) on Thursday, May 10, 2012, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Service to be held at Pierson's Garden of Peace Chapel (243208 Garden Road N.E. or 16 Avenue and Garden Road/100 Street N.E.) on Friday, May 11, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with Interment to follow. Many thanks to the doctors and staff at Peter Lougheed CCU and Rockyview Unit 58 for your exceptional care. Messages of condolence may be forwarded to the family at www.piersons.ca .
