FIELD, William Frederick (Bill)
July 1, 1924 - January 27, 2013
Bill passed away peacefully with his family by his side on January 27, 2013. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Mickey of 69 years; children: Bob (Karen), Wendy (Harley), Elizabeth (David); son-in-law, Roger; brother, Vic; seven grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren. Bill was born in Calgary and attended Colonel Walker School. He served in the Air Force (1943-1946) where he met his bride. Bill was a long haul trucker for many years followed by thirty-one years with Calgary Transit System retiring as inspector in 1985. He enjoyed driving anywhere in the country. This included school buses, tour buses and delivering gas in central and southern Alberta. Bill and Mickey built a home at Chestermere Lake, moving back to Calgary in 2007. Many thanks to the staff at Carewest Colonel Belcher Churchill House who took such good care of him since July 2012. Also many thanks to the staff of Unit 37 at the Tom Baker Centre who looked after Bill with compassion and care. He was predeceased by his brother, Art; sister-in-law, Irene; daughter, Barbara and granddaughter Lindsey. A Celebration of Life will be held in the Royal Canadian Legion Chapelhow Branch 284 (606 - 38 Avenue N.E., Calgary) on Friday, February 1, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. Flowers are gratefully declined.
