William (Bill) Phythian passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at the age of 82 years. Bill was born in Edmonton and raised in Gleichen, Alberta. He was member of the Calgary Police Service for several years and subsequently became part owner of Calgary Tent & Awning Ltd., retiring in 1999. Throughout his life, Bill was actively involved various volunteer activities, including coaching Little League baseball, running the junior golf program at the Calgary Elks Golf Club and as president of the Winston Heights Mountview Community Association and the Industrial Fabrics Association International. Bill is survived by June, his loving wife of fifty-nine years; daughter Jona Way (Marty); and sons, Cameron (Crystal) and Jeff (Alicia). Bill's greatest joy was in time spent with grandchildren, Mitchell (Huyen) and Calin (Carmen) Way, Navarre, Morgan, Carter and Spencer Phythian; and great-granddaughter Abigail Way. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
