William (Bill) Porter, beloved husband of Shirley, passed away on his birthday at the age of 83 years after a long and valiant battle with cancer. Bill was born and raised in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. It was here that he met and married the love of his life Norma Shirley Bell in 1950 and had their four children. Bill had an incredible work ethic and worked most of his life as a stationary engineer in the communities of Moose Jaw, Tisdale, and Saskatoon, Sask. Edmonton, and Calgary, AB. Bill was an enthusiastic athlete who competed in many half- marathons and triathlons including two World Triathlons after being diagnosed with prostate cancer. It was with this same enthusiastic positive attitude that Bill lived his life leaving a legacy for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren on how to live a wonderful life through honesty, hard work, commitment and a great sense of humor. Bill is survived by his wife Shirley, son Bill (Marion), daughters Vicki, Patti (Mark) and Debbie (Roger) and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. At Bill's request there will be a small family gathering only. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com .
