Dr. James Forward passed away peacefully at 80 years of age, on December 27, 2012 at the Rockyview General Hospital. Jim was born on May 21, 1932 at the Calgary General Hospital where he would later practice medicine for many years. Jim was raised in Toronto and received his Doctorate of Medicine at the University of Toronto. He returned to Calgary shortly after and set up his practice in 1954, closing it down in 2000. He joined the Canadian Royal Naval Reserve and achieved the rank of Lieutenant Commander. He was the Medical Officer of the HMCS Tecumseh until 1986, and enjoyed his service to the Navy. He met his wife Shirley in Calgary and they were married June 27, 1964, and raised two sons James Douglas Guy Forward and Christopher William Bower Forward. They enjoyed many summers and his retirement at his cottage at Blue Water Lodges, Oyama, BC. Jim is survived by his son J.D. Guy Forward; his brother Dr. Robert (Lianne) Forward, his brother-in-law Floyd (Carolyn) Lillies; his nieces and nephews Scott, Lianna, Colleen, Melanie, and Robin, and other family members and many friends. He was predeceased by his wife Shirley and his youngest son Chris. A Celebration of James Forward's Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Monday, January 7, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
