COLAHAN, Andrea Gail
1951 - 2014
Andrea Gail Colahan passed away on February 17, 2014 in Calgary. Andrea was born on May 31, 1951 in Montreal. As a child, she moved with her family to Edmonton. After attending university, she worked several jobs before moving to Saudi Arabia as a Lab Tech for twelve years. Andrea had a great love of life and was well travelled. She often shared fascinating stories of her travels which took her to the Middle East, Africa, Europe, United States, Canada, South America and the Antarctic. No challenge was too big or intimidating to stop her from living life to the fullest. Hiking up 200 stairs to the top of a Machu Picchu was like watching Andrea climb up to heaven!! It was said by her grandniece Alex that Andrea was beautiful and stubborn. In fact, following her second bout with cancer, inspiring all who knew and loved her, she rowed in the Dragon Boat Races! Andrea loved animals and especially cats, caring for six of her own. She spent time volunteering at the Calgary and Edmonton Humane Society. Music was a major part of her life and she was learning the flute. Andrea is survived by her mother, Kathleen Colahan, three sisters, Diana (Emile) St. Germain, Glennis McMullen and Darleen Colahan as well as her brother Lance (Margaret) Gray. She was predeceased by her father, Patrick Colahan. Andrea had a big heart, she was our rock, a caring friend and our loving sister. You will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by friends and family. Farewell Ang.
