VERMEEREN, Johannes Adrianus

Johannes "John" Adrianus Vermeeren passed away peacefully at the Rockyview Hospital on Friday, March 28, 2014 at the age of 90 years. He will be sadly missed by his children, Mary (Bernard) Sibbald, John Jr. (Karen), and Betty (John) Kroon); eight grandchildren; and many great- grandchildren. John is preceded in death by his wife Annie and daughter Marianne Relling. He was born on October 28, 1923 in Tilburg, Netherlands and immigrated to Canada in 1956, obtaining citizenship in 1962. John was the oldest of eight siblings who he kept in close contact throughout the years. He completed Drafting and Estimating courses at S.A.I.T. and enjoyed his career as a carpenter and superintendent. Some of the large projects he was proud of working on were, Calgary Tower, Palliser Hotel, Petro Fina Building and North Hill Shopping Centre. He enjoyed the company of many friends and was a member of the Dutch Canadian Club and the Queens & Jacks Square Dance Group. John and his wife Annie enjoyed travelling and made many trips to Europe and the United States. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 321 – 90 Avenue S.E., Calgary on Wednesday April 2, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. Messages of remembrance may be left for the family at www.southcalgaryfuneralcentre.ca.
