Denys Nelson passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at the age of 76 years. Denys was born and grew up in Yorkshire, England, attending Barnard Castle boarding school. Upon graduation, he moved to Canada, settling in Toronto for a number of years where he raised his first family. He started in the insurance industry in Toronto and was transferred to Vancouver as a field representative with the Aetna Insurance Company. In 1974, he had the opportunity to move to Calgary and run a sub-office of the Zurich Insurance Company and lived here until his death. Denys is survived by his children Sally Nelson and Heather (Mike) McGuire and their children Amanda, Alex and Ariana, all of the United States; Glen Nelson of Vancouver, BC; Kimberley Nelson of Calgary and Geoffrey (Venus Cornell) Nelson and children Tino and Mason, of Surrey, BC; a sister Rosalie Hindmarch and her sons Nigel (Hazel) Kilvington and daughter Rachel, and James (Kasia) Kilvington, all of England. He was predeceased by his parents George and Ethel Nelson and grandson Wyatt. He will be greatly missed as well by many friends. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
