HAYDEN, (John) Denis
September 13, 1943 (High River)
May 8, 2014 (Calgary)
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Denis Hayden of Longview, AB. on May 8, 2014. Den is lovingly remembered by his wife, Winnie, children, Ryan Hayden, Anita (Gary) Lyons, Aimee (Derreck) Kolla, Zeena (David) Kemlo, Ziona (Blaine) Peetso, seven grandchildren (Kayla, Tristin, Ewan, Hayley, Cael, Asher, and Gage), and extended family Lori (David) Bexte, Lisa (David) Bayduza and families. Den is also survived by his sisters Ann (Den) Burrell, Eileen Malmberg and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his first wife Jan, his daughter Larissa, his parents Homer and Muriel Hayden and his nephew Dick Malmberg. Den lived his entire life in Longview, working at and managing Hayden's Machine Shop, the family business that his Dad pioneered in 1946. Den loved to golf, often attending tournaments and traveling throughout Western Canada to find and play new courses. Den also loved spending time with his kids and grandkids, golfing with Ryan and recently summiting Mount Burke (his maternal Grandmother's namesake), with his five children. His 70 years on earth were lived fully. Full of adventure, joy, love, loss, laughter, honour and plenty of hard work. It was life well lived and one to be proud of. And he will be missed by all who knew him. The family would like to thank Dr. Gorsche of High River, Dr. Penner, Dr. Birn and the entire support staff at South Health Campus ICU for their compassionate care in Den's last days. A celebration of his life will be held on Monday, May 12, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Turner Valley Golf Course. At the family's request, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice. To email condolences please visit Arrangements in care of SNODGRASS FUNERAL HOMES, High River.
