June 12, 2014 – Calgary, AB
Edward was born in Calgary and lived most of his life here. He passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at the age of 94 years surrounded by family. Edward's life was influenced by many of the major events of the last century. He endured the Depression and served honourably with the Calgary Tanks in WWII from 1939 to 1945 which later became the Kings Own Calgary Regiment. He was proud to be one of the D-Day Dodgers in the Italian campaign. After the war he continued his involvement with the Canadian Military as a Warrant Officer and then went on to provide tours at the Calgary War Museums up to age 93. Each year he delivered the Remembrance Day poem at the Museum ceremony. Following the war he trained in the new field of TV electronic technology and continued to provide services well into his 80's. Edward will be missed by Leita Page, his wife of over 60 years; his children Brian Page (Barbara Page), Gail Sherwood and Maureen Dwight (Harry Lewington); his grandchildren Michael, Ryan, Alanna and Daniel and great- grandchildren Russell, Ben, Suri and Lincoln. A Memorial Service will be held in early July. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In living memory of Edward Page, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.
