John Alexander MacFarlane
1952 – 2014
John was born September 16, 1952 in Edmonton to Eva & Melbourne MacFarlane. John is survived and will be deeply missed by Linda "Lyn" and their children Renee (Mike), Dan (Marieve), Jodi (Kevin) and Kim; his family Roy, Norma (Wayne), Ida (Laurier), Murray (Stella) and Celine; numerous nieces, nephews and close friends. He is predeceased by his parents, sister-in-law Carol MacFarlane and brother Doug. John began his work on the Railway in April of 1974 not too long after being promoted to conductor in May of 1979. After serving as conductor for a decade he was then promoted to Locomotive Engineer in the fall of 1989. After his retirement he continued to work as a School Bus Driver in the High River area. John enjoyed golfing his love was motorcycles and his motorcycle was his prized procession. John left this earth doing what he loved most. Special thanks to the Revelstoke, Airdrie and High River RCMP as well as the Calgary City Police. We would also like to thank Brandon Bowers Funeral Home in Revelstoke as well as Snodgrass Funeral Homes Ltd in High River. As well as everyone who has offered their support during this time. A Celebration of John's Life will be held on Monday, July 21, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Highwood Memorial Centre, 128 – 5 Ave. W, High River, Alberta.
