YORKE-SLADER, Geoffrey Henry

Peacefully on August 19, 2014, at the age of 92, after a long and fulfilling life. Geoff was born in St. Ann, Jamaica on May 28, 1922. He earned Bachelor of Engineering (1945) and Master of Engineering (1947) degrees at McGill University. Geoff worked as an electrical engineer for Gatineau Power Corporation, Hydro-Quebec and the National Energy Board of Canada, ending his career at the NEB in 1985 as Secretary of the Board. He continued to work for several years after his retirement as a consultant. Geoff married Patricia Langridge on May 4, 1946. They were married 50 years until her death on July 24, 1996. Geoffrey found true love again, marrying Marjorie Lane on May 27, 2000. Geoff is survived by his wife Marjorie; his sons Blair (Amelia) and Neil (Aisling); stepchildren Daphne, Sharon (Terry) and Chris (Barbara); grandchildren Jenna, Eric, Drew, Dean, Conor, Sinead, Sophie, Emily, Sherri, Karen, Ryan, Amy, Trevor, Rosalyn and Sydney; cousin Geoffrey (Jean) Lehman; and many other loving relatives and friends. Family and friends are invited to visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street (at O'Connor), Ottawa on Thursday, August 21, 2014 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. and on Friday, August 22 from 10:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Service in the Chapel at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to McGill University, the Ottawa Little Theatre, or the Cathy Lynn Yorke-Slader Memorial Bursary (OMEA) would be appreciated by the family.
