With deep sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Dorothy Hoffman. Dorothy was born in Pinsk, Poland and came to Alberta as a young girl. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Norman, her brother, Max and her son, Jack. She is survived by her brother, Bennie Grabow and her sister Ruth Superstein, both of Vancouver. Dorothy will be remembered with love and affection by her children, Bernie (Jeannette) Hoffman, Gordon (Eva) Hoffman and Candy (Micheal) Schacter. She was the cherished grandmother of Tamara (David) Collier, Sam Hoffman, J.J. Hoffman, Tiffany (Michael Goldrosen) Hoffman, Steven Hoffman, Ari Schacter, and her joy, her great- granddaughter, Molly Collier, who was named after Dorothy's mother. As well, Dorothy will be lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Dorothy was very proud of her Jewish heritage and was a long-standing member and volunteer of Hadassah and the Beth Tzedec Sisterhood. She made friends easily, valued her immediate and extended family and created a bond which will always be remembered with admiration and love. Funeral Services will be held Friday, September 2, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Beth Tzedec Syngagogue, 1321 Glenmore Trail S.W. Interment will follow at the Beth Tzedec Memorial Park. Chevra Kadisha will be in charge of arrangements. If so desired donations may be made to Project Warmth Society of Alberta, or a charity of the donor's choice.
