It is with sorrow, but a host of wonderful memories, that we mark the passing of Lucy Cunningham. We celebrate the extraordinary 105 year journey in life of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and matriarch. Lucy was born on the CX Ranch at Rosebud Creek, AB, firstborn to Carmen and Jack Morton. Her education was gained in Gleichen and Calgary and she was awarded the Alberta Governor General's Award. Lucy attended Normal School and subsequently taught in a number of one room schools in Southern Alberta. Lucy and Raymond Cunningham were married August 2, 1937 and she became a farming wife and partner. They retired to Calgary in 1959 after which Lucy returned to teaching until retirement in 1973. She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Cunningham and Kathleen (Lloyd) Gingles; adored grandchildren, Colin (Carmen) Gingles and Nicole (Craig) DeMars; beloved great-grandchildren, David, Beth, Katie and Sadie; sister Frances Leahy and many nieces and nephews. Lucy was predeceased by her husband Raymond; daughter Barbara; sisters, Clare and Charlotte; and brother Allan.
"Say not in grief she is no more
but live in thankfulness that she was."
