MILLER, Kenneth James
December 15, 1953 - June 20, 2012
Kenneth (Ken) Miller died suddenly whilst on vacation near the family holiday home in Invermere, BC, Canada. Ken was born in Dunfermiline, Scotland, attending the University of Edinburgh, where he met, and subsequently married his wife, Fiona. Employment with Mobil Oil (now Exxon Mobil) involved various positions in the UK, followed by the USA and Canada. Seven years based in Calgary fostered many long-standing friendships and a love of the Rocky Mountains, and particularly the Columbia Valley and its many golf courses. Ken had recently retired from Exxon Mobil, his last position being in Houston, Texas. Many hours and much care and attention were spent designing and building a dream home in Austin, Texas. Ken and Fiona moved to Austin in March 2012, ready for new friendships and a busy schedule of golf and tennis. Ken will be dearly missed by his brother, Brian, his sister, Gill, and by his children, Raeanne, currently in Scotland, and Robb, of Ft. Worth, Texas. He was immensely proud of them both and was always ready with good advice for their young adult endeavours, indeed as he was with anyone he met. Ken was cremated in Cranbrook, BC, and ashes were scattered on the summit of Mount Swansea, overlooking their vacation home. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, July 6 at 3:00 p.m. at the Weed-Corley-Fish Lake Travis Chapel, 411 RR 620 South, Lakeway. Family and friends will gather at the residence for a reception following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to The United Way at Memorial guestbook available online at Arrangements by Weed-Corley-Fish Lake Travis, 411 RR 620 South, Lakeway, TX 78734. Telephone: 1-512-263-1511.
