EARLE, Edward Alfred
August 7, 1927 - October 30, 2012
It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Edward Earle. Ed was born on the family farm near Acme, AB, the youngest child of eight, to John S. Earle and Mame A. Earle all deceased. He was much loved by his family; wife, Betty; sons, Cameron (Casey), wife Andrea, and Robert (Bob); and daughter Cindy Hanks (deceased), as well as by grandchildren, Nicholas, Alan and Benjamin Earle of Santiago, Chile, Katherine Alsup and Sarah Hanks of Bartlesville, OK, Ryan and Roxanne Earle of Calgary and three great-grandchildren, Hailey and Austin Alsup and Sean Johnson of Oklahoma. Ed was in Air Cadets during the war and came to Calgary after the death of his parents, attending Western Canada High School. He started his career in Accounting with Dominion Bridge Co., joined Great Plains Development in 1952 and was V.P. Finance when the company was sold to Norcen, becoming Controller. Trying to retire early, he was convinced to take an overseas job to start up Challenger International Services in London, England for three years, then back to Calgary as Senior V.P. Ed was a member of C.G.A., Petroleum Accountants and the Financial Executives International. As a young man he played hockey, football and later coached Little League Baseball and Kids Hockey with his own children. Ed and Betty travelled much of the world. They enjoyed spending time with their scattered family and cruising with friends. They finally settled into a seniors home and happily made many new friends there. In lieu of flowers, consider making a donation to your favourite charity. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W., Calgary, AB) tomorrow, November 4, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In living memory of Edward Earle, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.
