Don Spence passed away peacefully on October 28, 2012 in Lethbridge, AB at the age of 74. He is survived by his loving partner, Dorothy Lobban, daughters Tracy Oraas (George) and Shelly DeJong (Jason); stepchildren Wendy (Gary) Sims and Grant Lobban; his grandchildren Giles, Easton, and Cale DeJong; Michael and Michelle Sims, and William Lobban; brothers Lynn (Wally), Vern (Bernie); and sisters Margaret Blair, Wendy Whillans (Darryl), and numerous extended family members and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Walter (1975) and Violet Spence (1997); brother Michie (1992); sister-in-law, Maureen Spence (2005). Don began his career as a member of the Edmonton Police Service and left the force to become a founding partner in establishing the Boston Pizza franchise in BC in the mid 1960's and early 1970's. Don later went on to explore other entrepreneurial ventures and investments in the Vancouver/ West Coast area. He returned to his home province of Alberta and resided in Edmonton for many years before finally retiring in Lethbridge, AB in 2007. We will miss his quick wit, his love of nature and outdoor activities, and his sharp sense of humour. A memorial gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date.
