MARSHALL, Susan Doreen
March 24, 1951 - November 27, 2012
Susan passed away peacefully as she succumbed to cancer after a lengthy four year battle. Susan lived for all her grandkids. She always wanted them to experience the way that she lived, full out and non-stop. She spent many years volunteering at the Thorncliffe/Greenview Community Center in both children's and adult programs. She made many life-long friends and for that she was always grateful. She was always an artist who loved to experiment with all types of media to create some of the most unique pieces ever seen. She was willing to try anything to see if it could be done even though the traditionalists said it could not be. Susan is survived by her partner of 15 years Cyril; children Sandra and Kris (Karen); grandchildren Taylor, Rachel, Wyatt, Autumn, Ari, Caitlin and Liam; siblings April (Al) of Winnipeg, MB, Albert (Gill) of Nanaimo, BC, and Patricia of Winnipeg, MB; as well as her nieces and nephews and their families. A Private Family Funeral Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S Chapel of the Bells. A Celebration of Susan's Life will be held at The Thorncliffe/Greenview Community Center (5600 Centre Street North) today, November 30, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made in Susan's name directly to the Alberta Cancer Foundation, c/o Tom Baker Cancer Centre, 1331 - 29 Street N.W., Calgary, AB T2N 4N2 ( The family and her close friends would like to thank the Palliative Care staff at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre (Unit 47), Home Care and the Sarcee Carewest Hospice for all their dedication and compassion in looking after Susan during her final weeks. For this we will all be eternally grateful. In living memory of Susan Marshall, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.
