Kathleen "Kay" Gibson passed away peacefully on Monday, November 19, 2012. Kay was born in Toronto on December 8, 1929. She graduated from Toronto East General School of Nursing in 1951. Kay worked as an RN until enrolling at U of T to earn a degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology in 1961. After marrying David Gibson (passed away in 2006) in 1961, she moved to Calgary where David accepted a position as professor of psychology at the U of C. Kathleen will be lovingly remembered by her children Martha, Jen, Judy (Mark), Peter (Trish), John (Sabri) and her grandchildren Jenna, Kyle, Fletcher and Megan. She will also be sadly missed by brothers; John (Helen) and Robert (Elizabeth). In 2006, Kay and Dave retired to Staywell Manor where she greatly enjoyed the company of new friends and caring staff. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W., Calgary, AB) on Friday, December 7, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. The family would like to thank the staff at Foothills Hospital, Unit 54 and the Sarcee Hospice for their compassionate care. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made directly to the Calgary Food Bank. In living memory of Kay Gibson, a tree will be planted at Big Hill Springs Park, Cochrane.
