Raymond Srigley passed away suddenly on December 8, 2012 at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary at the age of 89 years. Ray is survived by his wife Verna of High River; niece Jan (Jacques) Gendron; nephews Len (Maxine) Kraemer, Ross Kraemer, David Kraemer and John (Colette) Kraemer. Ray is also survived by his extended families, the Baceda's of High River, Cory and Cooper Cheshire and the whole Cheshire family of Elnora and Trochu as well as Cathy and Tyler Couey and the whole Couey family of High River. Ray was born in Cardston, Alberta and moved to Aldersyde in 1925 with his parents Janet and Bob who operated the UGG elevators. Ray joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1942. Following his time in the Air Force, Ray began working for C.P. Express in Calgary in 1958 until his retirement in 1984. Ray and Verna married in August 31, 1965 and resided in Calgary until moving to High River in 1993 to be closer to the Highwood Golf Course where he was a member since 1970. Ray loved being a member at the Highwood and witnessed many changes, always with a positive attitude. Ray was also a long-time member of the Calgary Curling Club where he was a very avid curler. Ray curled competitively for many years with long-time friend Scott Ellis and they were very successful. When they moved to High River, Ray continued to curl at the Highwood Curling Club. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the High River District Hospital Foundation (560 - 9 Avenue S.W., High River, AB, T1V 1B3) or the charity of the donor's choice. Special thanks for the quick response of the High River EMS and the outstanding attention Ray received at the High River Emergency Department. Special thanks to Dr. Finnegan for his caring and compassion shown to Ray as well as all of the nurses for their knowledge and professionalism.
