LANG, Steven Philip
May 7, 1928 - December 11, 2012
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Steve Lang on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at the age of 84, at the Beverly Care Centre in Calgary. Steve was a loving husband and father, a doting grandfather and an accomplished boxer in his prime. His boxing career held a special place in his heart and he loved to tell stories about his many triumphant bouts in the ring. His persistence and drive in boxing later led him to a very successful career in sales. He sold real estate, fire and safety equipment and later owned a small convenience store. It was at the Calgary Brewing and Malting Company, where he met the love of his life, Lucille. Together they raised a family and enjoyed many years spent travelling and enjoying their vacation property in Radium, B.C. He had a lively interest in politics and current events throughout his life. Along with his wife Lucille, he was an entertaining host for many special family gatherings. One of his greatest joys came later in life when he welcomed two grandchildren into the family, Keira and Luke. They were truly the light of his life. Steve is survived by his son Bradley; his daughter Jennifer; his son-in-law Bob; his grandson Luke; his granddaughter Keira and his brother Philip. He is predeceased by his wife Lucille; his mother Katherine; his father Steven; his sisters, Christine, Lena, Verna, Kay, Susan and his brothers, John, Joe and Felix. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Spirit Catholic Church (10827 - 24 Street S.W.) on Monday, December 17, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In lieu of flowers, friends may make a donation to The Parkinson Alberta Society (102, 5636 Burbank Crescent S.E. Calgary, Alberta T2H 1Z6). In living memory of Steven Lang, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.
