MAURO, Antonietta (nee Salfi)
November 13, 1915 - December 28, 2012
Our beloved mother and nana passed away peacefully at the age of 97. Born in Mangone, Cosenza, Italy, Antonietta was the fourth of five children. Nana was married in 1937 and immigrated to Canada in 1954 to join her husband. She dedicated her life to looking after her family for which we will be forever grateful. Antonietta is survived by her younger sister Emma; son Domenico (Lisa); grandchildren, Tony (Shannon), Nancy (Rod), and Randy (Silvia); and great-grandchildren, Madison, Jack, Brooke, Jennifer, Mackenzie, Emma, Nicolas, and Joseph. She was predeceased by her husband Natale; her parents; and a brother and two sisters. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Sunday, January 6, 2013 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Ascension Catholic Church (1100 Berkshire Boulevard N.W.) on Monday, January 7, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen's Park Cemetery. If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Antonietta's honour may be made directly to the Alberta Children's Hospital Foundation, 2888 Shaganappi Trail N.W., Calgary, AB T3B 6A8 (Telephone 403-955-8818). The family would like to thank all of the staff on the 4th floor (Heartland Unit) of the Bethany Care Centre for their help and support of Antonietta (Nana) Mauro. In living memory of Antonietta Mauro, a tree will be planted at Big Hill Springs Park, Cochrane.
