REGAN, Wesley Alvin
June 24, 1926 - January 7, 2013
On January, 7, 2013, after a short battle with leukemia, Wes has departed his earthly home and has joined Georgina, his Irish rose, in heaven. Wes was born at Cereal, AB. As a farm boy he gained many skills that would serve him well throughout his life. At the age of 17, Wes enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy and served from 1944 to 1946. While docked at Belfast, Northern Ireland, he met and married the love and joy of his life, Georgina Gabrielle Doyle. They settled in Calgary and had four children. Wes joined the Calgary Fire Department in 1951 and retired in 1979. They enjoyed many winters in Arizona. Wes was a volunteer with the Boy Scouts of Canada, St. Anthony's Catholic Church and the Red Cross in Chandler, Arizona. Wes loved his hobbies: playing the banjo and the bodran, gardening, wood working, golfing, snowmobiling, and fishing. Wes was awarded a life-time membership in the Royal Canadian Legion at Norman Wells, N.W.T. But, what Wes loved the most was being around and involved with his children: Gene (Pat), Brian (Shirley), Wanda DuPont, Leslie (Jo-Ann); his grandchildren: Wesley (Bronwen), Carrie-Joy (Matt), Aubrey (Kelli), Allison (Sean), Jai (Kelsey), Dannielle (John), Robin (Eden), Micki (Erin), Candy (Koman), Melissa (Guy), Natasha (Kent) and Erin (Curtis) as well as his 24 great-grandchildren and two great-great- grandchildren. Wesley was predeceased by his wife Georgina in 2004; brothers, Earl and Harvey; sister, Colleen; and son-in-law, Dennis. Wesley also leaves to mourn, his youngest sister, Sharon; cousin, Charlie Snell of Oyen; family members, Dan and Helen Quigley, Alan and Joan Scott and Reg Coyley and Frank Doyle in Australia, Astrid Jonson in Sweden and many nieces and nephews in the USA, Ireland and Australia. Much thanks to Dad's family doctor, Dr. Jaclyn Safran, the Doctors and staff at the Foothills Hospital, Unit 57 as well as Dr. Oelschig and staff at Foothills Country Hospice, for their care and compassion towards Dad.
I have fought the good fight,
I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
2 Timothy 4:7
