SMYLIE, Dorothy "Dot" Isobel
December 3, 1925 - February 7, 2013
Dot passed away peacefully at the age of 87 at the Carewest Sarcee Hospice with her daughter by her side. Dot was born in Vermilion, Alberta; moving to Calgary in the early 1950's to pursue a career in the oil and gas industry. One of Dot's proudest moments was when, at the age of 23, she became the third female in Alberta to earn a pilot's license. Dot is survived by her daughter Jackie Smylie (Richard Smith), sister Irene King, brother-in-law Don Stady, their families and her honorary sons - Kevin Clark, Keith (Barb, Dylan and Chelsea) Clark, and Gordon (Laura Dickson, Caitlyn and Krista) McLellan. Anyone wishing to make a donation in Dot's memory may do so to their favourite charity. A gathering to celebrate Dot's life is planned for later this summer. Please forward condolences through www.hffs.com.
