Ida Julia (Callanan) Hindle age 90 of Calgary, passed away on Sunday, February 17, 2013. Beloved wife of the late Henry Hindle (2001). Loving mother of Scott Hindle and his wife Karen of Calgary. Loved grandmother of Nadine Hindle and her fiancé Jake Anson of Brisbane, Australia and Dale Hindle and his wife Julia Bonnett of Calgary. Predeceased by her brother Edward and sisters Kay, Margaret, Helen and Betty. Ida was the daughter of William Callanan of Galway Bay, Ireland and Mabel (Sheets) Callanan of Collingwood, Ontario. Born in Laforest Ontario, she moved to Sarnia in 1928 with her family. Over the years she worked for Imperial Oil Ltd, Dow Chemical, and Goodwin Harris Brokerage. During the war she worked at a munitions plant and at Naval Headquarters in Ottawa. In 1954 she moved to Alberta where she worked for Socony Oil and Trans-Canada Airlines prior to her marriage to Henry and raising her family in Edmonton. After Henry's passing in 2001 she moved to Calgary to be near family. A private service will be held at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Edmonton. In lieu of flowers, sympathy may be expressed through donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, Samaritans Purse or the SPCA.
