April 12, 1962 - February 23, 2013
Wendy Lee Boyd (Screen) was born April 12, 1962 in Pincher Creek, Alberta, sadly passing away Saturday, February 23, 2013 in a tragic house fire. She grew up in Vancouver and Calgary, graduating from Sir Winston Churchill High in 1980. Wendy met the love of her life, Laurence (Laurie) Boyd from Longview, and they married on June 21, 1985 at the church in Heritage Park. Together they raised their two wonderful children, Christopher and Taylor, and the family travelled the world together, living abroad for the past 21 years. Laurie's job took the family on many adventures while living in Yemen, Colombia, Houston, Oman and Dubai. Wendy would also travel and spend time where Laurie's work might take him such as Brunei, China, India, Singapore and Russia. She was preparing to move with Laurie to Russia in May. While abroad, Wendy worked at the American School in Dubai, and her passion and ability for fitness drew her into personal training and, more recently, pre-natal Pilates instruction. Wendy was always committed to her children and family in every respect and all those who love her agree that she lived every day of her life to the fullest. Wendy is survived by and will be greatly missed by her husband, Laurie; her children, Christopher and Taylor; parents Jack and Sheila Screen; father-in-law Laurence (Larry) Boyd; sister Teri Mullen (Brian); brothers Jeff Screen (Carol), and Kevin Screen (Janet); sisters-in- law Christie Boyd, Kathleen Kidd and Mawney Boyd; nieces Hailey (Kyle), Jennifer, Christie, and Laura (Jean Louis); nephews Eric, Bradley, James (Laurie), and Jonathan; and great-nephews Logan and Matthew. Wendy was predeceased by her grandparents Stewart and Mary Caithness, Charlie and Pearl Screen, and her mother-in-law, Joanie Boyd. A Celebration of Wendy's Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W., Calgary, AB) on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to the Calgary Fire Fighters Burn Treatment Society (www.cfbts.org) or the Children's Hospital Calgary (www.childrenshospital.ab.ca). Wendy's family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the neighbors of Evergreen Way, the Calgary Police Department, Calgary Fire Department, West Jet and Air Canada for their compassion and support. A second Celebration of Life will be held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates at a later date. In living memory of Wendy Boyd, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.
