July 19, 1921 - February 15, 2013
Ivy Podmaroff, beloved wife of the late Bill Podmaroff, passed away in Calgary, Alberta on Friday, February 15, 2013 at the age of 91 years. Ivy was predeceased by her husband Bill; mother and father, Margaret "Maggie" (Bell) and Ernest "Ernie" Sanders; brother and sister-in-law, Les and Shirley Sanders; sister Kay Clappison; sister-in-law Chris Sanders and her brother-in-law and his wife, Peter and Fern Podmaroff. Ivy is survived by her brother John Sanders of Carseland; brother-in-law Fred Clappison; cousin Doris and John Irvine; numerous nieces and nephews, other cousins, a large extended family and many dear friends. Ivy taught school at many locations in Southern Alberta including Namaka, Carseland and Strathmore. She farmed with her husband Bill at Carseland for many years eventually semi-retiring to Calgary. Ivy taught school part-time in Calgary and also worked at Scarboro United Church. She was a long-time member of St. Matthew's United Church and sang in the choirs at St. Matthew's and Scarboro United Churches for many years. She was also a life-time member of Eastern Star. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of EDEN BROOK FUNERAL HOME & RECEPTION CENTRE (17 Avenue S.W. and Lower Springbank Road ) on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. (one hour prior to the Service). A Graveside Service will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday, March 11, 2013 at Queen's Park Cemetery (3219 - 4 Street N.W.). Condolences may be forwarded to the family by visiting www.edenbrookcemetery.ca. A special thanks to all the caregivers at Cedars Villa for taking such good care of Ivy while she resided there. In lieu of flowers, for those who so wish, a donation may be made to the charity of your choice.
