ARMSTRONG, Irene Rosemary (Montalbetti)
May 3, 2013, Irene, beloved wife of Red (William) Armstrong, surrounded by her family, "slipped the surly bonds of earth", and now soars with the Angels. Words cannot express how much you will be missed. Born September 23, 1935, she was predeceased by her daughter Alison Sawyer (Alfonso), sister Rosalind Volesky and mother and father, Ailene and Charles Montalbetti. Irene is survived by her husband of 55 years, Red; daughters April (Paul) Pellizzon and Aimee Armstrong; son Tony (Gina) Armstrong; granddaughter Jaimee Wright; grandsons Jacob (Julie) Ferguson and Jordan Ferguson; great-granddaughter Ellivia Ferguson; brother Chuck Montalbetti; sister Elaine (David) Peterson; numerous nieces and nephews and cousins, as well as a multitude of friends. Irene was an avid traveler, having visited Italy, Scotland, Mexico, Tahiti, Hawaii, and many other US destinations. She truly knew where every great restaurant was located. Irene spent many pleasant Tuesdays with the Lakeview Ladies golf group. She made a number of good friends during her 20 years of deep water exercises at Shouldice pool.
Oh, death of you I have no fear,
Upon your pale horse riding near
Your weapon be it sword or spear,
Means naught to me.
I have seen you, Master of disguise,
I've looked into your soulless eyes,
And all your treachery and lies,
Mean naught to me.
Though you may still my mortal heart,
My God and I you cannot part,
So e'en the poison of your dart
Means naught to me.
Ride on Death, keep riding still,
Come Death, take me if you will
Love of God and friends
You cannot kill
You mean naught to me.
Fly on, free spirit, fly on.
