MORRISON, Frank
October 7, 1921 - Moose Jaw, SK
June 16, 2013 - Calgary, AB
Sadly on Father's Day, we lost our deeply loved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend at the age of 91, after years of various medical issues that he fought gallantly. Born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan to parents Allen and Ethel Morrison, Frank grew up on a farm in Ettington with brothers Herbert and Walter and four sisters; Gwen, Edith, Noreen and Joyce. Joining the Army in 1941, he was stationed in England and it was there that he was introduced to Irene by mutual family friends. Frank left the army in 1945 after being part of the D-Day invasion in Normandy and he and Irene were married on July 9, 1945. Frank stayed in England and worked in the furniture industry where he learned the cabinet making skills that would mould his future. He returned to Canada with Irene, Al and Margaret in 1956, son Glenn was born in Calgary, and after working various construction related jobs Frank started Morrison Construction, now Morrison Homes, in 1961. In 1983, Frank and Irene retired to Blind Bay, BC and Sun Lakes, AZ where they enjoyed many years of golf, happy hours with friends and family and wonderful trips to various parts of the world. They settled back in Calgary in 1990 to be closer to their growing family. Frank was a deep thinking, hard working, loving man whose word was his bond and he will be deeply missed. Frank is survived by his beloved wife of almost sixty-eight years Irene; daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Ron Forrest of High River and two sons and their families, Al and Donna, Trevor, Kyler, Delaney, Elisha of Calgary and Glenn and Chris, Daphne, Michael of Virginia, USA. He is also survived by sisters Noreen Pearson in Calgary and Joyce and Lawrence Penno in Regina. A Celebration of Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Friday, June 21, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends so desire, donations can be made to the Alberta Children's Hospital Foundation, 2888 Shaganappi Trail N.W., Calgary, AB, T3B 6A8 (Telephone 1-877-715-5437, www.childrenshospital.ab.ca). In living memory of Frank Morrison, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.
