BURTON, Raymond Harvey McBride

It is with very sad hearts that
our family announces the
passing of our dearly loved
father, grandfather, and great- grandfather. Raymond Harvey McBride Burton passed away peacefully into our Lord's loving embrace on Monday, October 7, 2013 at the Southwood Hospice in Calgary, AB at the age of 87 years. Ray served with the Armed Forces on two different occasions; July 13, 1944 to June 12, 1946 and June 11, 1949 to April 6, 1974 retiring as a Captain. After leaving the army Ray worked in human resources at TransAlta Utilities, retiring July 31, 1987. Ray was an active member of the Masonic Lodge since being raised September 30, 1957 in Whitehorse, Yukon. He held many offices during this period and was installed as the Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Alberta A.F. and A.M. in June 1994. Ray was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and was invited into the Royal Order of Scotland in 1998. Ray was predeceased by his loving wife of 64 years, Esther on May 21, 2010. They looked forward to spending their winter respites in Maui, a tradition they lovingly passed on to all of their family. Ray is survived by and will always remain in the hearts of his children; Ellen (Joseph) Walchuk of Calgary, Raymond (Heather) Burton of Wolfville, NS, John (Sherry) Burton of Calgary, Dianna (Thomas) Jenkins of Kamloops, BC, and Terry (Jean- Marc) Raymond of Calgary, thirteen grandchildren; Ryan (Jennifer), Robert (Tracy), Cindy, Kimberley (Trevor), Courtney (Michael), Darin, Bradley, Ray, Sean, Brianne, Joshua, Zachary and Ty, seven great- grandchildren; Rand, Perrin, Brittany, Jacob, Alyssa, Sara and Paige. A Celebration of Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W., Calgary, AB) today, October 12, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
