It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of Harry Burrows (H.B.) Urquhart, age 87, on Sunday, February 16, 2014 at Rockyview General Hospital in Calgary, AB after a lengthy illness. Harry is survived by Audrey (nee Dobson), his wife of 68 years, and their three children, Ron (Sharon) of Alhambra, AB; Sherrill of Leduc, AB; and Allen (Lana) of New Westminster, BC; four grandchildren, Lee of Moose Jaw, SK, Bobie Joanne (Darrin) of St. Isidore, AB, Daren (Tasha) of Warburg, AB and Randy of Peace River, AB, as well as five great- grandchildren. Born in southwestern Ontario, Harry joined the RCAF in 1943 at age 18 as an aircrew trainee. He received a medical discharge in 1944 and moved to Edmonton due to his health. Harry and Audrey were married in Edmonton in 1946 where Harry was working as a clerk at Ashdown Hardware. The young family moved to Peace River in 1948 when Harry was transferred to be manager of their new store. In 1953 Harry purchased a general insurance agency which he expanded with a real estate operation as well as other fields. During his thirty-eight years as an Insurance Broker, Harry has served as a Town Councilor, Planning Commissioner, Kinsman, Rotarian (receiving the Paul Harris Award) and various other community activities. He was also active in the Standardbred racing community, owning several horses over the years. Harry and Audrey retired to Calgary, after trying out the Arizona snowbird lifestyle, where he became a volunteer driver for the Canadian Cancer Society. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Wentworth Manor and Rockyview General Hospital (Unit 73), as well as Dr. Dargie and Dr. Simmons for the care they provided over the last years. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Alberta Cancer Foundation, Tom Baker Cancer Centre, 1331 - 29 Street N.W., Calgary AB T2N 4N2 (Telephone 403-521-3433, www.albertacancer.ca).
