Charles COWAN Obituary

March 9, 2016– Airdrie, Alberta
Gib passed away suddenly at home on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at the age of 89 years. Gib worked a thirty-three year career in Calgary as a Greyhound driver before retiring with his wife Vera to Salmon Arm, BC in 1981. Gib and Vera returned to Airdrie in 2002. Gib is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Morey and Laurie Cowan of Airdrie; his daughter Marian Cowan (Tim) of Rocky Mountain House; two grandchildren, Lisa and Dana; and three great- grandchildren, Peyton, Georgia, and Colby. He was predeceased by his wife Vera in 2008; and his brother Jock; and sister Jess. A Celebration of Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Airdrie, 300 Towerlane Drive) Monday March 14, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In living memory of Gib Cowan, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.

So sorry to hear of your father. Unfortunately we are dealing with Jo's mom now as she fell and cracked her pelvis. She is 95 and we don't want to be too far away. Our thoughts are with you and your family.

Marian, Tim, Morey and Laurie and families...I was saddened to hear of your Dad's passing. I'll miss seeing his smily face in the Co-op 2-3 times/week. As a neighbor he was always very caring and helpful. I'll keep you in my prayers thru this tough time. I'm sorry I'm working so I won't be able to attend the service. Hugs & Smiles from Rosemary

Sincere condolences to you all. I am so sad for you. Gib was a great guy, a very long time good friend, as well as an awesome neighbour (he + your mum). Such fun we used to have all together up in that little corner of Countryside ... I have some great memories! Please know that our thoughts are with you + our hearts go out to you.
