Thomas CORMACK Obituary

Published by Calgary Herald from Apr. 5 to Apr. 8, 2016.
CORMACK, Thomas Alexander
October 17, 1941 - April 2, 2016
It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to Tom's earthly presence – a beloved husband to Fran, Father to Tami (Jon) and Christa, Papa to cherished grandchildren Lexa, Elijah, Aurora and Astrid. Born in Calgary, he attended Capitol Hill, Briar Hill, Branton, Crescent Heights, Mount Royal College, Simpson College (Iowa) and the University of Calgary. Graduating with a business and teaching degree, he worked at the Hudson's Bay and taught business education, work experience and enthusiastically coached football at James Fowler and Western Canada High Schools. He was predeceased by his brother George just a week ago, on March 26, 2016, his niece Amber, his parents George and Kay Cormack as well as other beloved cousins, aunts, uncles and close friends. Tom loved his family and friends tremendously. He loved boating and partying at his cabin on the Shuswap. He loved his curling teams with the teachers' league and at the Winter and Glencoe Clubs. He loved his annual Grey Cup party. He was a good athlete who loved curling, basketball, hockey and football. He could beat anyone at cards and crokinole. His family is so grateful for caring doctors and nurses, faithful friends and the "prayer warriors" at Grace who helped him through this difficult journey. Celebration of Life will be held at Grace Presbyterian Church (1009 - 15 Avenue S.W.) on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. Photos, memories and condolences may be shared with family through www.evanjstrong.com. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Tom's memory to Kidsport Calgary (P.O. Box 94011 Elbow River Post Office, Calgary, T2S 0S4; telephone: 403-202-0251; website: www.kidsport.ca/calgary). Arrangements in care of EVAN J. STRONG FUNERAL SERVICES. (403) 265-1199

Fran and family:

I first met Tom when he helped Nev Anderson and Ron Moroz coach us at Crescent in 1967, which was the start of his coaching career. I have enjoyed working with him all these years with the Crescent Alumni, we will miss him tremendously. I loved his sense of humour and the wicked twinkle in his eyes. Diane and my thoughts are with you Fran.
