Benetta Phillips

Benetta "Bennie" Phillips, 86, passed away November 1, 2013 in Canon City, CO. She was born in Utleyville, CO to Oran and Opal (Lynch) Higgins on August 3, 1927. Bennie was united in marriage on November 17, 1945 to Carl Edward Phillips in Ulysses, Kansas. They lived in various locations throughout Colorado. Bennie worked as the new accounts executive at First National Bank in Canon City, before moving to Denver where they owned and operated a "U-Pump It" and equipment rental with son Doug, for many years. Bennie was a member of Faith Bible Fellowship in Canon City. She worked with her daughter at the Christian Family Fellowship pre-school for nine years. She enjoyed quilting, but her family always came first. Mrs. Phillip's is survived by her husband, Carl; children, Patricia (John) Repar, Mike Phillips; and Doug (Teresa) Phillips; nine grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; sister, Emma Jean (Nelson) French; and brother, Doyle (Robin) Higgins. She was preceded in death by her son, Steve; sister, Bonnie Cox; and brother, Oran Higgins Jr. Visitation will be from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m., Thursday, November 7, 2013 at Holt Family Funeral Home in Canon City. Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 8, 2013 at Faith Bible Fellowship with Pastor Mike Shields officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Holt Family Funeral Home.
