Born at his farm home in Chittenango New York to parents Mabel and Orville Watkins, Charlie passed away peacefully surrounded by family after a brief illness. Raised in Chittenango New York, Charlie served in the US Air Force until called home by the Red Cross to care for the family farm after the passing of his father. Charlie was a highly skilled engine mechanic for most of his life. Once his children were grown, Charlie followed a lifelong dream to open a camp ground in the Catskill Mountains in New York. After several years at the campground, Charlie and his wife Mary moved south west to Canon City Colorado for their retirement years. Charlie is survived by four children, James, Teresa, Cheryl and Linda. He is also survived by his sister Joan, 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday June 7, 2013 at Mountain Vale Memorial Park in Canon City. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested in Charlie's memory to Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care which is the hospital team that took such wonderful care of Charlie and his children in his last days.
