Ethel Geraldine "Jerry" McCasland was born December 16, 1930, and passed away September 24, 2013. She is survived by her sister, Deanna McCracken; children, Tom McCasland, Terry Jake McCasland, Molly Hamilton (Tom), and Helen "Jody" McCasland (Dan Barlow); seven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and numerous cousins. Jerry was born in Guymon, Oklahoma to Lavina Spraberry and Arby "Tom" Lening. She grew up in Artesia, New Mexico, where she met and married Charles McCasland in 1946. They moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1955, and then to Canon City where they opened McCasland Glass in 1958. She not only was the office manager and bookkeeper, but also operated a craft store and a cake decorating business out of the same building. Jerry was an accomplished quilter. She had several quilts in shows and took home ribbons for her creativity and work. She belonged to quilting organizations throughout Fremont County for many years. She was also an accomplished cook, but her greatest accomplishment was her family. She loved nothing more than family gatherings. She was always available for her family and friends and extended a helping hand where ever and whenever it was needed. She will be sorely missed by her family and friends. Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 7, 2013 at Faith Bible Fellowship at N. 9th and Pine in Canon City. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to World Vision through the funeral home. Arrangements are under the care of Holt Family Funeral Home.
