Gene and Marlys were currently living in Saguache, CO. Eugene came to Colorado as a young man in the army, stationed at Fort Carson. He met and married his life-long partner during that part of his life. Marlys M. McDowell became his bride on April 3, 1955. She survives him, as does his daughter, Mecque (Bart) Nesmith of Canon City; Mecque's children, Casey (Kate Benedick) Southern, Corey (Brandy) Southern, Jacob (Patryce) Southern, and the newest great grandchild, Kaden Southern. Gary Busch, Gene's brother, preceded him in death, as did his son, Thomas Busch.
