Gary Rimpley

Gary was born August 16th, 1960 in Bolivar, Missouri to Marshall "Bud" and Darlene Rimpley. After graduating High School in Arnold, Nebraska, he joined the US Army on January 4th, 1978 and spent the first 15 years of service as an Armor Crewman, followed by Armor Senior Sergeant and the last nine years as Command Sergeant Major. Gary received a Legion of Merit Medal, Two Bronze Stars and was awarded five Meritorious Service Medals along with numerous other achievements, awards and medals. Thirty years of service took him from stations in Germany and Korea to the conflicts in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq. He retired January 31st, 2008, as a CSM for the US Army to enjoy his life with his wife Gerri, whom he married while still active, on March 18th, 2001. He enjoyed working outside and spending time with family and his animals along with being self- employed after retirement. Gary was also extremely involved in his local VFW Post 2788 where he was voted post commander in 2011 and 2012. He aspired to acknowledge the sacrifice of all service men and women and procure services necessary for their protection and direction. Gary is preceded in death by his father Bud Rimpley and Uncle Keith Hagler. He is survived by his wife Gerri Rimpley of Penrose, mother Darlene Rimpley of Arnold, Nebraska, son Eric Rimpley of Colorado Springs, daughter Kristina Rimpley in Germany, brothers Ronald Rimpley, Kevin Rimpley, and sister Erin Hockley all of Nebraska. You will never know how much you are truly missed and will be in our hearts forever and always. Please join us to celebrate his life on Friday June 14th, 2013 at 2:00pm. Services will be located at the VFW Post 2788, 402 Broadway, Penrose Colorado. The family ask that all donations be made to the VFW Post 2788 or Florence Elks Lodge #116 in lieu of flowers.
